Obituary of David J. Maher

Irondequoit: Wednesday, August 31, 2011 peacefully at his home at age 83. Dave was a lifelong resident of Rochester. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Diane Maher, his four sons; Peter (Ellen) Maher of Maine, Steven (Rebecca) Maher of New Mexico, David (Rachel) Maher of Maine and Bill Maher of Rochester; four grandchildren, Kaitlin Maher, Michael Maher, Tyler Maher & Sam Maher; a multitude of nieces, nephews, and grand nieces and nephews. Dave was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Loretta Maher; three brothers; Walter (Bud), William (Bill) and Richard (Dick) and two sisters; Helen Russer and Katherine (Kay) Pestorius. Dave graduated from Aquinas High School in 1945 and attended Niagara University in Buffalo, New York. He married his sweetheart Diane Geraghty on March 17th 1951and served in the U.S. Army Intelligence in San Francisco, the couple moved back to Rochester immediately after. Dave worked for Rochester Gas & Electric for 37 years before retiring. Dave was an avid golfer and longtime member of Lakeshore Country Club. He is forever in our hearts and will be greatly missed. His family will receive friends TUESDAY September 6th,, from 4:00 - 7:00pm at the funeral home (570 Kings Hwy South). Friends are invited to meet the family WEDNESDAY September 7, 2011 at 9:30 AM at BLESSED KATERI AT CHRIST THE KING CHURCH 445 Kings Hwy for his funeral mass. Interment White Haven Memorial Park.
