Obituary of John Duncan Keller

Keller, John Duncan "Jack" Greece. Entered into rest on December 25, 2011 10 days short of his 82nd birthday. His family at his side. He is predeceased by his parents Bud and Margaret Keller, his sister and brother-in-law Carol and Maynard Schaus, his nephew John Schaus. He is survived by his daughters, Martha (Scott) Erbland, Karen (Jeffrey) Pankow, Cheryl (Jim) Pohlman, grandchildren Gina and Mark Bianchi, Scotty and Emily Erbland, Aidan and Liam Pankow, Ryan and Christopher Pohlman, brother Michael (Joyce) Keller, sisters Peggy (Lew) Lennon, Kathy (Tony) Zajchenko, several nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews. John was born on January 4, 1930 in Olean NY. He graduated from Olean High School in 1949. He graduated from St. Bonaventure University in 1953 with a BS in Physics. He also attended the University of Rochester and Massachusetts Institute of Technology for graduate work. He received a Masters of Science in Statistics from the Rochester Institute of Technology. He began his career in 1955 as a physicist at Bausch and Lomb and received no less than 6 patents during his time there. He went to work for Eastman Kodak Company in 1970 where he worked on many major projects until he retired in 1991. He spent much of his retirement as a personal trainer at the Southeast YMCA. He moved to Parrish, Florida and spent time in Hendersonville, NC before returning to New York in 2007. He lived in Portageville, NY and finally returned to Rochester. He lived at Crimson Ridge Gardens for the last year as he struggled with dementia. His family would also like to thank the staff at Unity Hospital for their wonderful care over the holiday and the staff at Crimson Ridge for allowing him to share his love of singing and dancing with the residents. John's family will receive friends Wednesday 4:00-8:00 pm at the funeral home where his Celebration of Life Service will be held Thursday at 10:30am. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Mount Irenaeus Franciscan Mountain Retreat at www.mounti.com in John's memory. His final funeral mass and interment will be held in the late Spring at St. Patrick's Church in Belfast, NY.
