Bonadio, Anthony F.
Irondequoit: Honorable Anthony F. Bonadio, long time Irondequoit resident passed away on Monday, August 6, 2012 after a lengthy illness. He served as a Family Court Judge for twenty years, retiring in 1998. Prior to his judgeship he served as a Monroe County Legislator for two terms, representing the 17th district, and had a private law practice. He also was the first child abuse lawyer in the county, in 1968, and served as trial counsel for the Department of Social Services, Child Protective Division, handling abuse and neglect cases for Family Court. After retirement he continued to work as a Judicial Hearing Officer for a short time.
He was a graduate of Aquinas Institute, University of Rochester and Albany Law School. Beside his dedication to his career, he was active as a coach for Irondequoit Little League, Biddy Basketball, and girl's softball in Irondequoit. He was an avid golfer, gardener, baseball fan and enjoyed worldwide travel.
Before his illness, he was a member of Irondequoit Rotary Club, Knights of Columbus, Sons of Italy and other various organizations. He served on the executive committee of Camp Good Days and Special Times and had been involved with camp as a volunteer since its beginning. He also was an usher at Christ the King Church where he was a parishioner for many years.
Anthony is survived by his wife of 50 years, Marilyn; children, Amy(Tom) Vierhile, Mark Bonadio of Indiana, Susan(Anthony) Day, Jill(Kevin) Connor of Utah; grandchildren, Molly, Megan, Jenna Vierhile, Lauren & Tyler Day, Dylan & Brady Connor; sister, Teresa(Jerry) Rutalis; sisters & brothers in law, Nancy Williams, James(Sue) Poole, Kathy(Dave) Holder, nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. The family wishes to thank the wonderful staff at Baird Nursing Home for their loving and outstanding care. We are forever grateful.
His family will receive friends FRIDAY 3:00 - 7:00pm at the funeral home (570 Kings Hwy.) Friends are invited to meet the family SATURDAY 9:30 AM at Blessed Kateri at Christ The King Church for his funeral mass. Interment Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
