I was so sad to learn of Mr. Maid’s passing on the Channel 10 news tonight in the story about his sister. My family rented the apartment in his home from 1993 to 1998, and Mr. & Mrs. Maid were cherished precious friends of our family. We kept in touch for many years after we moved out of their home. They were very special “grand-parent figures” to my two small children. Without a doubt, Mr. & Mrs. Maid are reunited in heaven with the Lord they both loved and faithfully served.

The last time we saw Uncle Joe was his 98th birthday on February 28th. He still knew who we were and of course had to hug my Mom multiple times . Joe was astonished every time someone told him how old he was but assured us that he wasn’t worried about it - he knew he would go to heaven!! God Bless you Joe, you are now at peace and reunited with Mary Alice the love of your life, your parents, so many of your family who went before you and your personal angel, our cousin David Miller.

I’ll remember Uncle Joe as a good man and husband. For many years he was our linkage to our other Maid aunts and uncle and many distant cousins. He always enjoyed a good party, told some great tall tales and always had a smile on his face and was genuinely was happy to see you. Cheers Uncle Joe! Greg Miller
