I miss my mom every single day. It is so painful and bittersweet watching my life change in exciting and positive ways, and wishing she could be here to see it. Because I know she would want to. She would love my new cat and be so excited to help me move into my new apartment. I have the heaviest sadness that she is not here to see my life change, and joy that she would be here cheering me on if she could. I understand why many people say “grief is love with nowhere to go.” My mom was unconditionally supportive and loving. I find myself missing her humor and company most of all. Mom always knew how to put a smile on my face after a bad day. I remember after a hard day at school my mom would say “this is nothing a cup of tea and a few cookies can’t fix”. As my world grows bigger and in many ways scarier, I really miss the comfort and unconditional love she provided me with. She meant so much to me. I am not sure if I believe in an afterlife in the traditional sense, but I hope the universe reunites us someway, somehow, in some capacity. Until then I will look for her in rainbows, songs on the radio, and flowers in the spring. Because if mom taught me anything it is that the small things are really the big things.

Carolyn, I will always be humbled and blessed to have been your big brother. Thank you for loving me in return. Through the tears of intense heartbreak , I find comfort in knowing you’re in the greatest hands of all, and the fact there was never any hesitancy to say “I love you” in our family. Rest In Peace, and thank you for being a loving sister-in-law to Paula, and loving aunt to Bridget. They love you and will miss you tremendously with the rest of us. So, although I know it goes without saying, I’m going to ask anyway..,” Lord, please take care of my dear sister and your humble servant, until we meet again in Eternity”. I love you always , Carolyn. May Dad and all our loved ones be at the gates of Heaven to welcome you home.
