Webster, NY: Passed peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Wednesday, December 15th at the age of 60. Predeceased by her father, Robert Gedeon, Sr.  She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 29 years, Steven; beloved children, Kevin, Meaghan, Kelly and Kate Barry; mother, Lois Gedeon; siblings, Robert (Paula) Gedeon, James Gedeon, Kathleen (Stephen) Cook; brother and sisters-in-law, Richard (Jackie Harmon) Barry, Donna (Michael) Smith, Pat (Bill) Durette, Anne (Craig) Kay and Cathy (Matt) Clear; along with many nieces and nephews.

Carolyn was born September 11, 1961 and raised in Niagara Falls and Lewiston, NY. After attending Niagara Catholic High School, she graduated Summa Cum Laude from Niagara University school of Nursing, and subsequently obtained her Masters in Nursing from the University of Rochester. As an accomplished Nurse Practitioner at URMC, Carolyn was known for her medical expertise and compassionate care.

Carolyn possessed an unshakable faith, zest for life and a beautiful, magnificent soul. During her 9 years of treatments for brain cancer, Carolyn’s greatest strength and source of joy came from her four children and her husband. It was her unwavering devotion to them that sustained her.  For Carolyn, family always came first.  Her unforgettable smile and demeanor inspired everyone who was fortunate enough to know her. Carolyn’s greatest pleasures came from making other people happy.

Carolyn enjoyed shopping with her girls, a good cup of coffee with dessert, the Yankees and Bills, as well as reading, traveling, classic movies, and holidays; especially Christmas.

Her family will receive friends Monday, December 20th, 4:00pm-7:00pm at the funeral home (570 Kings Highway So.). All are invited to honor Carolyn on Tuesday, December 21st, 10:00 am at Holy Trinity Church, Webster for her funeral mass. Interment private Holy Trinity Cemetery.
