Obituary of Susan Irene Gibbens

Susan Irene Gibbens Irondequoit: Sunday, May 5, 2024 at age 77. Born August 21, 1946 in Pima, Arizona. Predeceased by her parents, Capt. William H. Gibbens and Elizabeth R. Gibbens and an infant brother, Roy Rumpff Gibbens. Susan is survived by her brother, William R. Gibbens (Susan Kim) of Maryville, Tenn. and nephews, Zachariah of Nova Scotia and Jeremiah Gibbens of Tenn.; cousins, Patricia Hattala, John Meagher (Janet), Christopher Hattala, Suzanne Wasilewski (Marc) their son John, Patrick Meagher (Kaleigh) their son Kian and many good friends. Susan graduated from Eastridge High school in 1964. She received her B.A. from Goucher College, attended The School of International Training and received her Masters in Social Work from the University of St. Joseph in Connecticut. She retired as a Lieutenant from the Manchester Police Department, Manchester Ct., after serving 28 years. She then worked as Director of Public Safety & Environmental Health for the Manchester Community College retiring in 2015. Susan moved back to Rochester in 2018. She loved taking on new projects because it allowed her to buy new tools! Friends are invited to meet the family at the entrance of Riverside Cemetery (2650 Lake Ave.) Thursday, May 16, 2024 10:00 am for her graveside service.
